WHY I'M RUNNING

A Modern, Balanced Vision for New York State Senate District 31

As we rebuild and rebound from the pandemic, we have the opportunity to create a new normal by embracing bold change and taking real action that improves lives. We can solve the homelessness crisis, tackle climate change, and improve our public schools while tearing down systemic inequities.

I also believe that we can do so while ensuring that our streets and commutes feel safe.

As someone who has lived in the margins of our society whether it be because of my race, ethnicity, sexuality, or immigration status, I know what it takes to fight to have your voice heard.

For over ten years, I have served as a dedicated public servant first as a middle school teacher, then as a government chief of staff and now as an education and labor policy advisor at the United Federation of Teachers and as 2nd vice chair of Manhattan Community Board 12.

I am running for New York State Senate because our district deserves bold new leadership with a focus on serving as a sensible voice in Albany to put us back on the right track and delivering for the diverse needs of the district.

As your State Senator I will create a culture of unity, inclusion, and creative vision to deliver meaningful and tangible results for the district’s students, families, and workers. I look forward to meeting you on the campaign trail and working together to build a better future!

Policy Priorities

We all feel that metro Atlanta is at a tipping point. The decisions we make today will define our city’s future. We need comprehensive and practical solutions that pave the way for our bright future - not just for some Atlantans, but for all.

I believe we should be judged by how we show up for the most marginalized people in our community. When we implement inclusive policies to help the most vulnerable in our city, we all win.
